The City of Los Angeles, often known simply LA or informally, such as the City of Angels, are the second largest city in the United States of America and the largest city in California. The city has a global presence as the center of culture, science and higher education. Los Angeles is arguably the world's leading manufacturer of popular entertainment, especially movies, television and recorded music, lending the city an exceptional international reputation.  LA can be a great place to call home for those new to the US.  Real estate can range from cheap and efficient to expensive and luxurious.  

Los Angeles was incorporated as a city of the 4th April 1850, five months before California achieved statehood, and is the county seat and largest city of Los Angeles County. From the 2000 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 3.69 million, while the 1st July 2004 estimate placed the city population of 3.85 million, the 10 million inhabitants of the county. Los Angeles is the core and most important city of Southern California is a growing urban area, which accounted for nearly 18 million residents. City is also the correct large geographic standards, since it Sprawl over 465 square miles (1,200 sq km), which is higher than both New York City and Chicago.

Los Angeles is also one of the most cosmopolitan places in the world where people live in virtually every country in the world. There are two Olympic Games in Los Angeles, 1932 and 1984, and is home to world-renowned scientific and cultural institutions. People have long been interested in world class city for its balmy weather, unique and vibrant lifestyle, laid-back energy, Pacific Rim Gateway, and hope to understand that the "American Dream".

 

Relocating to LA

There is a large number of renters from foreign countries seeking apartments in Los Angeles.  The West Coast naturally attracts immigrants from South East Asia, as well as from Mexico, and South and Central America.  LA can be a great place to live for those looking for a close-to-home location and warm weather.  The Southern California real estate market was hit hard by the bursting of the housing bubble, so there are plenty of good deals out there.  Apartments in LA are abundant and can be found quickly.   

New York is a hot spot for immigration as well.  Renters new to the area often find that apartments in New York can be expensive and small.  NYC has excellent public transportation. You can probably save money and get by without a car and associated costs.

Boston apartments tend to be older and more affordable than those in NYC.  However, transportation in Boston can be difficult, so location is crucial.  Most apartments in Boston rent on 12 month cycles beginning September 1st.

Atlanta can be a great place to live if affordability is your primary concern.  Atlanta apartments are inexpensive for a large, world class city.  The crime right is high, and the school systems aren't the best, but you can get a lot of bang for your buck in Hotlanta.

 

More About Los Angeles

Los Angeles has one of the largest freeway systems in the world, 27 interwining Commuter freeways handling millions of daily trips, as they are the collective migration of about 100 million miles (160 million km). In fact, more cars are registered in Los Angeles area as a whole in Russia.

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and other agencies operate an extensive system of bus lines, as well as subway and light rail lines, which together carry more than one million passengers a day. The main rail system includes a Red Line subway, the Gold, Blue and Green Line light rail and the Orange Line, a dedicated busway. The special red Metro Rapid bus lines have also been highly touted as a prime example of a successful bus transit program since these buses operate the railway line and through the best-known parts of the city. Momentum is slowly building to extend the subway under Wilshire Boulevard all the way to the ocean in Santa Monica, ushering it is even more extensive public transport system. Los Angeles metropolitan area is served by more airports than any major city in the world, 5 major airports, economic, and many more general aviation airports. The main Los Angeles airport is Los Angeles International Airport (IATA: LAX, ICAO: KLAX), the fifth busiest commercial airport in the world. LAX handled 55 million passengers and 2 million tonnes of cargo in 2003. Other major airports include economic Ontario International Airport (IATA: ont, ICAO: Ident), Bob Hope Airport (IATA: BUR, ICAO: KBUR), formerly known as Burbank Airport, Long Beach Municipal Airport (IATA: LGB, ICAO: KLGB) , and John Wayne Airport (IATA: SNA, ICAO: KSNA). Los Angeles is also the world's busiest general aviation airport, Van Nuys Airport (IATA: VNY, ICAO: KVNY).

The sea ports in the port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach make up Los Angeles - Long Beach Harbor, the busiest and overall third-largest Container port of the world. It is also smaller, non-industrial harbors along LA's coastline. Most of these contain sailboats and yachts, such as Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Marina Del Rey.

There are a number of public colleges and universities in the city, including the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) and the California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Private schools in the city include the University of Southern California (USC), Southern California University of Health, Pepperdine University, Loyola Marymount University (LMU), Mount Saint Mary's College, Occidental College (oxy), Otis College of Art and Design (Otis), Allians International University, Southwestern University School of Law, and the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc).
