One of the cities of Los Angeles County, California that has an approximate population of 56,500 and is surrounded by sic boroughs is the city of Arcadia. Situated on the foot of San Gabriel Mountains, approximately 21km(13 miles) northeast of Los Angeles' metropolitan area, this city is the birthplace of Los Angeles County Arboretum and the location of the Santa Anita Park racetrack. The city was inhabited first by the Indian tribe called Tongva, also known as "Gabrielinos", 3,000 years ago. They derived their name from the Spanish San Gabriel Mission who controlled their work at the time of the mission period in California. Rancho Santa Anita, is one of the oldest landmarks in this city, which was named after a family relation named "Anita Cota".
