Canoga Park

Outlined on the southern part by Woodland Hills, on the western part by West Hills, on the north by Chatsworth, and Winnetka on the east, is the city of Canoga Park. Previously called as Owensmouth, this city is a portion of the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, California and is approximately 40 kilometers ( 25 miles) northwest Los Angeles Metropolitan. The name Owensmouth was given by HJ Whitley, general manager of Los Angeles Suburban Home Company because of its closeness to the Los Angeles Aqueduct that brings water coming from the Valley of Owens. However, in 1930 the city's name was changed to Canoga Park. For many years, this city has become the haven of the Native Americans' two tribes, Fernandeno and Chumash. Some theory says that the city got its name from a Native American village "Ganogeh". Canoga Park became a major producer of wheat in 1860s and later, the area was zoned for rural and agricultural industry producing fruits, vegetables, horse, and livestock.
