El Monte

El Monte is the 44th biggest city in California which is situated in the eastern part of Los Angeles city, in the region of San Gabriel Valley. Having a population of 115,965 people, this city has a motto of "the end of the Santa Fe Trail" and "Welcome to Friendly El Monte". In 1849, inhabitation started from missionaries and Spanish soldiers who travel through this region in early 1770s. It was believed that this soldiers and missionaries stopped in this area between 1770s and 1830s, naming the place 'El Monte,' not referring to the mountains but describing the place itself as 'meadow or marsh' or 'the wooded place'. In the year 1930s, El Monte city became a valuable spot for the New Deal's federal Subsistence Homestead project where this where this program assist in giving qualified single-family applicants ranch homes. The neighborhood of this city was the first to be established and organized by Americans of European lineage. Although it was once inhabited by a lot of immigrants since 1930s (Dust Bowl Migration), El Monte city eventually became a fortress of Latinos.
