Laguna Beach is a seashore resort and is considered as an artists’ society which can be found in southern part of Orange County, California. It is 34 km in size of the area and a part of Southeast Santa Ana. As of the statistical studies, the area population was approximately 23,730. Laguna Beach is famous because most of the area has scenic beaches with 5-star hotels, eccentric shops and restaurants, world renowned art galleries, and art festivals. Some of the movies and films are also taken in this place. Laguna Beach is ranked as one of the oldest cities in the southern region of Orange. The place was located and designed to be of no use that none of the big ranchos covered it during the land grab after California was taken away from Mexico. Colonizers arrived after the Civil War, but found insufficient value of land availability for agriculture, and one area called as “the public lands” was the seaside section spanning Laguna Canyon and Three Arch Bay. During 1870s, a family named “Thurstons” held the land in Aliso Canyon area and built a house a mile from the beach. Sooner, a small community, called Arch Beach, originated in the north area in near Bluebird Canyon. During the 1880s, the lands had been separated. In 1889, Orange County was subdivided from the County of Los Angeles and become independent, and the small society was captured in an economic deterioration and failed. When the time came for renewing the economy, an agreement took place to reconstruct the town and move it to the mouth of Laguna Canyon. The agreement met no resistance as a commotion with the Irvine ranch had come to a resolution that allowed the additional access to the coast. |
